Top 5 Flowers to plant for Spring
With Spring finally here, we wanted to share our top favorite plants that would best bloom in spring! Read below and get inspired to get your hands dirty in your garden. The end result will be a beautiful garden filled with gorgeous flowers. Oh, and let's not forget the wonderful smell that will accompany that beautiful garden!
1) Bloodroot
First up is Bloodroot, or Sanguinaria Canadensis. This herbaceous plant is simply beautiful and makes it's appearance in March, shooting up white flowers that last until late spring. This plant is good fit for a shaded or woodland area where it will receive shade, moisture, and well-drained soil.
2) Lilac
Second is Lilac, or Syringa Vulgaris. The scent that this plant gives is lovely. The lilac blooms on old wood, so hold off on pruning until right after the same year's flowering is finished. This plant grows best under the sun and well drained soil.
3) Grape Hyacinth
Third are Grape Hyacinth or Muscari Armeniacum. This plant is uniquely beautiful with its bulbs hanging lusciously from sturdy stalks, closely resembling grapes. This plant grows best under part shade or full sun with well drained soil.
4) Daffodil
Fourth is the Daffodil, or Narcissus. This joyous flower grows in a range of shapes and sizes. Something I find amazing about this plant is that its foliage should be left to die back on its own to rejuvenate the plants for the next year. This plant grows best in full sun and well drained soil.
5) Azaela
Lastly we have the Azaela. This flowers' gorgeous color is short lived but is a wonderful plant to transition from spring to summer. This plant grows well under part shade and moist, but well drained, acidic soil.
