Fashion Trick: Oversize Fall Styles

Here at Kingdom & State we are huge fans of boxy and over-sized cuts. We love the way these pieces can be styled in many different ways, whether it's a dress, top, or bottoms. Below are a few tricks we have up our sleeves that we pull out when we style our over-sized pieces.

Oversize coats are probably the most fun! We say this because you don't necessarily need to wear your size for a perfect look. The trick to wearing big coats is that you must have a fitted piece somewhere else in your outfit. You can wear a high waist skirt to accentuate your waist. You can also wear some skinny jeans or trousers to show a fitted leg. Wearing some high heels is also a great way to elongate the leg and not get drowned in the coat.

Oversize tops are so easy to work with. After this you'll be wanting to look through your closet for all of your over-sized sweaters and tops that you tossed aside. If your trying to style a boxy or oversize top, simply pick out fitted bottoms. Bottoms can be a pencil skirt, skinny jeans, or skinny trousers, and if your top is long enough, you can even pair it with leggings! If your top is made of thinner material, try tucking in the top all the way around and cuffing the sleeves a few times. If the top is thick or bulky, only tuck in the front where your waist is. High waist bottoms work best with oversize tops. You can also always accessorize with a belt if the top is long enough to accentuate your waist.

Who knew that oversize bottoms could look so darn good? The trick to rocking these bad boys is to go fitted at the top. If you have some high waist bottoms, you could easily pair them with a crop top or a tucked in top. You can also add a belt to these bottoms to better cinch your waist. If the bottoms are a bit longer, you can pair with some high heels to add some inches to your height. You will have everyone complimenting on how tall you look.

The best way to wear oversize dresses is by belting them. The belt itself can be as flashy or simple as you would like. Another way to wear a big, loose, dress is by pairing a fitted jacket, blazer, or sweater with it. This will give you a more upper body fitted appearance.

Have fun with oversize pieces! What are some of your favorite oversize items?
