Homemade Classic Favorites
Ever crave all the classic comfort foods, but don't want to pay the hefty price at the gym for them later? We sure do! We wanted to share with you the best recipes for some of our favorite easy classic favorite foods.
First off we have fries! Who doesn't love good crispy fries? In this recipe, the fries will be baked instead of fried. A healthier way to enjoy an all-time favorite!
Directions:
-Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees
-Place baking sheet on flat baking pan, spray olive oil evenly on baking sheet
-Peel, wash, & cut 2-3 Russet potatoes
-Place potatoes wedge side up on baking sheet.
-Season with garlic, pepper, chipotle seasoning, & a pinch of parsley
-Place in oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until crispy
Voila! Yummy fries!
Secondly we have Cauliflower Crust Pizza! This is such a healthy alternative to the classic dough pizza we love. I promise, with the right seasonings, this comes out really tasty and the best part, we can indulge without feeling guilty afterwards.
Directions:
-place 2 cups of cauliflower in the processor and pulse for 4 min
-place cauliflower in microwave and heat up for 30 sec. Let it completely cool.
-place in small towel and ring out any excess water
-place in bowl and add cheese and spices of your choice, and mix all together.
- add 1-2 eggs and mix in
-your mixture should feel like dough. Mold the dough into a circle
-place onto parchment baking paper and bake for a few minutes until golden
-once its golden, take out and add tomato sauce, cheese, and any extra toppings of your choice!
-place back in oven and bake for 10-15 minutes
-let completely cool before cutting. Enjoy!
Thirdly, we have veggie patties. We love a good, tasty, veggie patty that helps us with our daily intake of veggies. You will need a few ingredients for this. You can decide how much of each you want depending on how many patties you want. The ingredients are: cooked chickpeas, cooked brown rice, fresh parsley, red onion, shredded carrot, red pepper, jalapeno, and garlic. pepita, ground flax, bread crumbs, salt, and seasonings of your choice.
Directions:
-finely chop all above ingredients except for chickpeas and brown rice
-place chickpeas and brown rice in processor or smash by hand.
-throw everything together in bowl and mix very well
-mold this into patties and place on parchment baking paper on a baking pan
-Fry in pan for 3-5 minutes on each side
-Enjoy!
Fourth, we have veggie pasta! This is for the folks that own a device to slice your large veggies into noddle-like form. Here are a few different brands out there: Veggetti, Veggetti Pro, Spiralizer, and Zoodle Slicer.
You can purchase these at Walmart, Target, Amazon, or other major retailers.
Directions:
-Slice as many zucchini's as you need
-Dump all spiraled zucchini in a strainer.
-Add a few pinches of salt and let sit for 15-30 min.
-Place zucchini in small towel and gently ring out excess water
-Cook in saucepan with olive oil and seasonings of your choice.
-Add tomato to taste
-Enjoy!
Lastly, we have chocolate pudding! This is absolutely one of our favorite treats for dessert. Try this healthy recipe for a guilt-free delicious desert. These ingredients will make 6 servings.
You will need:
-avocados (peeled and cut into chunks),
-1/2-1 ripe banana peeled and cut into chunks
-1 cup unsweetened almond milk
-1/4 cup of raw cocoa powder
-2 Tbsp honey or maple syrup
- 1 tsp Vanilla
-1 tsp almond butter
-1/4 tsp cinnamon
- pinch of salt
Place everything in blender and blend until smooth. Must be served chilled.
